MINUTES OF RICH1 HPD & MECHANICS MEETING

Tuesday 25th September 2007
Present Bill Cameron, Dave Clark, Richard Plackett, Trevor Savidge & Dave Websdale.

Upper HPD Box Hood

The 10mm Al plate ordered previously is now to small due to the expanded cooling connector patch panel.
There will be a sunken region in the 'top' of the hoods lid to allow vertical space for the HV connectors and the cooling connectors to coexist.
Several available schemes for getting more clearance between the hood and the top of the magnetic shielding are being discussed. (see later)

the end plate material will be ordered (DC)
the corner piece extrusion (TS) to order (see later)
DC to decide and order material for gas clamps
material for the HV feedthroughs has arrived, dellrin and AL, Ian will begin making them
by the end of today TS will provide DC with dimensions for the end plate of the loft conversion (HV path panel)
We need to decide on the dimensions of the support for the loft conversion.

As a general principle we will make parts for the top box and only being to manufacture parts for the bottom box if the workshop has a lot of slack time

Redesigning the cooling feedthroughs wouldn't gain enough space to make it worth the redesign effort

The patch panel design is progressing well, needs to be finally located in the end plate as well as the reordering. The delring for the data patch panels has arrived

DC to look for brass fixings for the cooling pipe feedthroughs.
We are waiting for confirmation from erich

The chariot pieces will go to the annodisers tomorrow.

Hood Lid design Later

TS proposes a lid incorportaing sides that hold the cooling feedthroughs, this means it will be removed and not have to provide so much clearance for the columns and the hood end plates wilol be smaller.
